Starfish An introduction to the aquatic environment encouraging confidence, independence and water safety skills. Developing confidence whist learning to blow bubbles, float and kick.
Seahorse Building on the confidence gained in starfish, the swimmer will learn Freestyle kicking and arms, as well as backstroke kicking. The swimmer will be introduced to Freestyle breathing and backstroke arms.
Seal In this level the swimmer will develop their freestyle and backstroke technique. The goal being able to complete a distance of correct Freestyle and Backstroke.
Stingray Breaststroke leg kick will be developed further and greater distances made for Freestyle and Backstroke.
Swordfish Distance work is the main focus in this level, to prepare to swim lengths in the main pool. The swimmer would have perfected Breaststroke and started to learn Butterfly.
Sharks Aims to build confidence and the fundamentals swimmers need. For children aged 8+ who aren’t confident in the water.
Penguin This course develops stroke technique, stamina and diving. The first time swimming in the main pool can be tricky, so the swimmers will develop skills to help with this.
Penguin Advanced Working on stamina through 100m relaxed freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke whilst improving technique. Swimmers will be able to demonstrate diving, starts, turns and finishes all strokes.
Improver Improver builds on the skills of Penguin Advanced to build stamina further over longer distances, improve technique and further the technical knowledge of starts, turns and finishes.
Junior Development Squad Junior Development Squad will be for those swimmers who wish to transition into Swim Club, but need to work on their skills and fitness further. Swimmers can either choose to do one or two training sessions per week. Each class is 1 hour long.
Fitness Youth Squad Fitness Youth Squad will be for those swimmers who just want to swim for fitness and have no desire to go over to swim club at this time. Although there will be some technical components in the forms of starts and turns in these sessions, it will look at maintaining and building on the swimmers fitness and enjoyment in the water.
