Find answers below to some of the most frequently asked questions about our facilities.  

Can a child under 8 years of age use the pool without parent/caregiver supervision?

No. Poolsafe accreditation states all children under 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or over. Actively Supervised means watching your child at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.

How are the germs killed in the pool water?

All pool water quality must be within New Zealand Standards (NZS 5826:2010). To adhere to this the water is both filtered and chemically disinfected. 

How often is the water tested? 

Swimming pool water tests are done every three hours to maintain great water quality. 

Should I shower before I enter the pool? 

Pool users should shower before entering the pool to remove any dirt or moisturisers that could contaminate the water.

Are there accessibility hoists at the pool?

Both Levin Aquatic Centre and Foxton Pool have a hoist that can be used to help with pool access. Please let the reception team know on entry if you require the hoist so they can get this set up.

When is the deep lane open?

What are the Hydroslide operating hours?

Unfortunately our Hydroslide is currently closed to the public. The unforgiving aquatic environment has had a significant impact on the stairwell and slide run-out to the point that it is unsafe to open. We are working with engineers and contractors to identify the best course of action from here and will communicate this once known.

What dates will the facilities be closed?

All Aquatics Horowhenua facilities will be closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday. Please see our Prices & Hours for more information.

When does Foxton Pool and Shannon Pool open to the public?

 Foxton pool opens from 1 September through to the 30 April seasonally. Shannon School Pool opens over the Christmas holidays.
