Overview

To ensure that everyone enjoys their visit to the pool, please take time to read through our entry conditions, water safety information and pool rules.

Conditions of Entry

  • Aquatics Horowhenua does not allow smoking on its premises.   
  • Please observe pool rules at all times.
  • Any patrons under the influence or in the possession of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted into the Centre.
  • Anyone attempting to gain entry without paying or without authorisation will be prosecuted.
  • Visitors are not permitted to bring glass objects, knives or alcohol into the Centre. Visitor’s bags may be searched.
  • Abusive, disruptive or offensive behaviour and language are not permitted. Offenders will be removed from the Centre.
  • Children under 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or older. Actively Supervised means watching your child at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.
  • Articles of clothing such as street wear, underwear, cut-off jeans, t-shirts, bike-pants, leotards, casual wear and sporting wear are strictly prohibited. Only recognised swimwear, made from lycra and nylon is to be worn in the water. Only recognised waterproof nappies are to be worn in the water for infants. Nappies are available for purchase in reception.
  • Payable lockers are available for the safe storage of your belongings. It is not recommended to leave your belongings unattended.
  • No pets or animals are permitted in the Centre. Guide dogs are welcome.
  • Videos or cameras are not permitted unless prior approval has been given from management.
  • Aquatics Horowhenua accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen belongings. Visitors are advised not to bring valuables to the Centre. You are responsible for your valuables at all times. We encourage you to secure your valuables in lockers which are available.
  • Management reserves the right to refuse entry. Refusal to comply with these Conditions of Entry may result in removal from the Centre.

Water Safety

To ensure you and your family enjoy each visit to the pool, please take the time to read the information below which contains key information and advice for your safety and enjoyment.

  • Children under 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 or over. Actively supervised means watching your child at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.
  • You may be asked to leave the Centre should supervision of your child not be sufficient.
  • Refer to Pool Rules, Hydroslide Rules and Hydrotherapy rules below.
  • Lane etiquette: Please stay close to the lane whilst swimming and be mindful of the speed in which you swim as there are lanes for all speeds.
  • Check depth of pool before entering as the pool depth differs around the complex.
  • Non swimmers: Do not go in over your depth. Stay clear of deep water unless you are a confident swimmer.
  • A safety speech is recommended to large user groups before entering the pool. Our staff will assist with delivering this speech.
  • In the event of an emergency the lifeguards are in charge and will evacuate the entire complex.
  • When you are in the water and find yourself in difficulty just raise your arm out of the water to indicate to the lifeguard you need assistance.
  • All our lifeguards are First Aid trained. They also have first aid availability on them at all times. There are also first aid kits on poolside that can also be used in the event of an emergency.
  • Swimming pool water tests are done every three hours to maintain great water quality. 

Pool Rules

  • Walking only. No running.
  • Bombing is not permitted.
  • Flips of any kind are not permitted.
  • You are responsible for your valuables. Please use the lockers provided.
  • Reckless behaviour is prohibited and will be dealt with seriously.
  • Please be mindful and respect other patrons in the facility.
  • Glass is not permitted.
  • Anyone under the influence or in the possession of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave.
  • Videos or cameras are not permitted unless prior approval has been given from management.
  • Suitable swim clothing to be worn. No track pants, jeans or underwear.
  • Changing in change rooms only, no changing on poolside.
  • Be aware of pool depths BEFORE entering the water.
  • Listen and respect lifeguard instructions at all times.

Hydrotherapy Rules

  • AquaRehab classes: refer to reception for more details.
  • You must be 16 years or older to use this pool.
  • It is not recommended to spend more than 20 minutes in this pool without a break or instruction.
  • Hydration advice: Ensure you stay hydrated. Have bottled water with you and drink regularly.
  • See steps and railing before entering the pool. Be aware of the step going into the deep part of this pool.
  • This pool is set at 34.5 degrees.

Hydroslide Rules

  • Maximum of three people down the slide at one time.
  • The Poolsafe Pool alone policy applies.
  • Children under eight must be supervised by a caregiver 16 years or older at all times.
  • Children under five must be accompanied down the slide with a caregiver 16 years or older at all times.
  • Jewellery and eyewear are not permitted.
  • Stopping in the slide is not permitted.
  • Please walk up the stairs, no running.
  • Large objects such as flotation aids are not permitted in the slide.
  • There is no additional entry fee for the slide.
  • Always listen to the lifeguards instructions.

Caution: For safety reasons pregnant women and people with heart conditions, back trouble or disabilities should not ride the slide.
